Reading about Nathaniel Mary Quinn’s background made me really sad. Through all his life, he faced hardship and had to look out for himself. The first time that he left home for himself, he lost the one person that kept him and his brothers together. He learned that his mother had passed over the phone, and when he returned home his father and brothers had abandoned him. AT AGE 15! I could never imagine losing my entire family after my mother’s death. The fact that Nathaniel Mary Quinn was still able to continue working for himself and make the choice to live on his own makes him so strong. He’s very admirable as an artist to have been left behind by his family, but being able to bring them along his artistic journey as well. Makes one wonder how capable people are. Art is something I personally love and express myself with, and to see such emotion in Nathaniel Mary Quinn’s work is devastatingly beautiful.
